I’ve been here already three times and each time was a treat. The food is delicious, the waiters are kind, the setting is interesting. They also have great natural wines. I loved sitting on the terrace, but also inside there was a vibey atmosphere. The menu was fairly priced. I would definitely like to return next time I’m in Lucca!
What an amazing place ! We spotted it when walking the wonderful streets of Lucca and booked for the evening - well I’m blown away. Really interesting dishes , well prepared, in a wonderful setting. We’ve been to many restaurants in different counties, and this one has reminded me how a random find can bring a smile to everyone’s face.
You can often judge a place by the bread, and they set the pace from the get go - the dark focaccia was amazing (as was the normal version along and other breads), we also got a mini spritz along with a mortadella beignet amuse bouche (all superb). I had a delicious stuffed squid starter followed by the best tagliolini with truffle I’ve ever had! My dessert was an inverted lemon meringue with yuzu - not too sweet and a fantastic version. I’m still salivating over what we ate while writing this, many thanks & Buon Natale!
Absolute gem of a find. So much better than the nearby tourist traps. The food was interesting, meticulously prepared and delicious. We tried several dishes. I loved my spaghetti with pistachio and shrimp, the bisque had a delightful seafood flavour. I also had pork ribs with apple sauce too and the ribs slid off the bone but were cooked perfectly and not fatty at all. My wife had a delicious liver pate. The wine list was excellent too with the entire meal being very reasonably priced. Overall I would say for anyone wanting an elevated experience that is more than just the standard tourist menu, you should book this place. And if I was a local this would be my regular.
Best restaurant in Lucca, by far! Finally: attention to detail, atmosphere, light, manners. Finally: excellent focaccia. Finally: obsessive perfectionism that cares about the TOTAL client experience. In a city of cynical, repetitive, tourist-driven, restaurant-factories, Osteria Nova dares to shine some (blue) light.
This place was as good as some of Michelin star restaurants I have been to. And the price is less than half of those restaurants. I shared all dishes (antipasti, risotto, slow cooked pork ribs, and dessert) with my wife, and they were kind enough to split them from the kitchen.
Highly recommended - especially the slow cooked pork ribs - when you are in Lucca.
Best restaurant in Lucca, hands down. I'm a foodaholic from Los Angeles and I've had amazing food all over the world. Any city I come to i search out the best spots to eat. In Lucca I tried some of the other "best restaurants" and they just didn't cut it for me. But Osteria Nova?! WOW. It was so good I ate here for dinner twice on my trip. From the amazing bread to the Tuna Tartare appetizer to the pastas and dessert - it's an incredible experience.
Great restaurant in the centre of Lucca. Cosy atmosphere, though maybe a bit dark at some times. The dishes were really good, especially the truffle pasta with old cheese 🤤, nice choice of wines as well.
Service: Excellent, they were really nice, helped us when we had questions and we got a baby Aperol Spritz and snack to start the meal.
Food: Oh my god, so good. It was possibly the best quality food we had in Italy. The skill was excellent. Up there with the best food I’ve eaten.
Price: For the quality of the food the price is more than fair.
Definitely worth a visit!
